James F. Brisson, book designer, began his career as an art director and production manager in advertising. A lifelong love of books led, in 1982, to establishing himself as a freelance book designer. Since then he has designed more than three thousand books and worked with local publishers such as the Stephen Greene Press and many international publishers, including Cambridge University Press and Harvard University Press; he has also designed exhibition catalogs for the Maryland Historical Society and New Britain Museum of American Art. He continues to work from his home studio in Williamsville, Vermont.
